Osteoporosis

Back to Product Information and Health Facts

Osteoporosis is a disease that is most often thought of as the "old woman's disease." However, osteoporosis is a slow and silent disease that affects millions of men and women each year. While women are four times more likely than men to develop osteoporosis, a balanced diet rich in calcium is important for both sexes.

For most women, bone growth happens at an accelerated pace during the teen years, slowing during the 20's. Bone loss is a gradual process that can begin in the 40's, but is most rapid in the postmenopausal years. For most men, bone loss occurs later in life, but has an adverse affect as well. One way to ensure you lower your risk for osteoporosis, and offset bone loss, is by getting enough calcium and vitamin D in your diet. Dairy products are an excellent source of both, as well as many other vitamins and minerals your body needs to stay healthy and strong.
