Events and Programs

The Dairy Farmers of Oregon have been helping to shape and build the communities of Oregon for decades. We care about the same things you care about... the kids, animals, land, air, water and well-being of our beautiful state. Below are a few of the events and sponsorships we support throughout the year:

3-A-Day of Dairy Campaign

Research shows that most of us are eating only half the USDA recommended 3 servings of dairy each day. Dairy provides nine essential nutrients, including calcium, potassium, phosphorus, protein, vitamins A, D and B12, riboflavin, and niacin (niacin equivalents), so be sure to get your 3 daily servings of lowfat milk, cheese or yogurt for stronger bones and better bodies. To learn more about the health benefits of 3-A-Day of Dairy please go to www.3aday.org.

Ag Fest

The Dairy Farmers of Oregon are happy to support Ag Fest, an annual event held in Salem, Oregon at the state fairgrounds where thousands of families gather to learn about Oregon Agriculture. Come visit us to learn more about life on the farm and where your milk and dairy foods come from. More information can be found at www.oragfest.com.

Dairy Princess Spreads the Good Word About Milk

The Oregon Dairy Princess and her court commit an entire year to the Oregon dairy industry, serving as spokespersons for all of the dairy farm families in Oregon. They represent one of the top agricultural businesses in the state through personal appearances at schools, conventions, fairs and trade shows.

School Visits

The Oregon Dairy Princess offers a unique look at life on a dairy farm and the importance of good nutrition during her 30-minute school presentation targeted towards kindergarten to third grade students. To have the Oregon Dairy Princess visit your school and give an interactive talk on how milk gets from cows to consumers, contact Marilyn Rueck, the program coordinator, at 503-771-2745.

OSAA Scholar Athlete Program

Thanks to the Dairy Farmers of Oregon, every student athlete in Oregon can earn recognition both on the field and in the classroom through the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) Scholar Athlete Program. In addition to championship trophies, the Dairy Farmers of Oregon Academic All-State Team Awards honor high school teams based on their combined grade point averages – regardless of win-loss records. The Dairy Farmers of Oregon have always been proud to promote fitness and athletics with high quality dairy products. We're just as pleased to sponsor this unique OSAA program that reaches nearly 100,000 Oregon students and promotes academic excellence.

We know that it takes added effort to keep up on schoolwork while spending so much time in extra-curricular activities and we appreciate student's hard work. Academics are the most important game in school!

School Milk Cooler Rebate Program

Now save a cool $250 in the lunchroom

The Dairy Farmers of Oregon continue their work to ensure cold milk in the lunchroom by extending the school rebate program. Here's a rare chance to actually save money for your school. Coolers keep milk chilled, just the way kids like it. To help chill the milk at school, the program offers a $250 rebate for a newly purchased portable electric milk cooler and this year it also provides a fifty percent discount on cold-cell barrels and crate wraps that hold standard-sized milk crates.

Interested? Schools simply need to contact Pete Kent at the Oregon Dairy Center, at 503-229-5033, to reserve a rebate or discount. Once the school has purchased the cooler or wrap, they must send in their receipt to the Oregon Dairy Center and we will mail them a $250 rebate or 50 percent discount amount.
