Organic milk is part of the norm.organic milk

The USDA considers milk to be “Certified Organic” when produced using specific practices, and the pertinent fool labeling rules for all organic foods—including dairy—were last updated in October of 2002. Foods featuring at least 95% organic ingredients earn the USDA’s official organic seal.

Organic dairy farmers nourish their cows with certified organic feed, which was grown using certified organic fertilizers. Pesticides, antibiotics, supplemental hormones and genetically altered ingredients are not used. Vaccinations are permissible, however, to boost the herd’s immune systems. Also, cows must have access to pasture.

At the Dairy Farmers of Oregon, we respect your right to choose between conventional milk and organic milk, as your tastes and lifestyle preferences dictate. Qualified scientific experts tell us, however, that conventionally and organically produced dairy products offer similar nutritional and safety attributes.
